Prophet Ibrahim, may the peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him, was one of the most honoured and favoured messengers sent to mankind. The highlights of this noble prophet's life are many, but one thing that always catches my attention is how often his name is mentioned in the Qur'aan.
Usually, when you love someone, you can't help but to talk about them a lot. So it only makes sense that Allaah subhana wa ta'aala has mentioned the name of his Khalil so often. Subhan Allaah, what an honour it would be to know that your Lord is not just pleased with you, but has such a strong love for you that you are mentioned constantly in the most holy book. May Allaah subhana wa ta'aala revive our hearts and increase us in our love for Him.
For example, in surah Baqarah, Allaah says...
إِذْ قَالَ لَهُ رَبُّهُ أَسْلِمْ قَالَ أَسْلَمْتُ لِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
When his Lord said to him, "Submit (yourself)," he said, "I have submitted myself to the Lord of the worlds." [Baqarah : 131]
In that verse, notice how Ibrahim did not even hesitate, did not even second-think it. When Allaah told him to submit, right then and there immediately he said I submit. Allaah did not go to the next ayah and say, then Ibrahim submitted, but no it was kept in the same ayah-- which shows us the nature of Ibrahim's heart, and how obedient he was to Allaah subhana wa ta'aala.
Another thing I noticed that always brings tears to my eyes is the way that Allaah 'azza wa jal defends Ibrahim ('alayhi salaam) from the accusations of the Jews and Christians. Almost every single time his name is mentioned, Allaah also says "...and he was not from among the mushrikeen". By Allaah, I have never seen such a stronger companionship than this, that Allaah is defending his beloved Prophet from the slanders and the lies that others have attributed to Ibrahim in such a way that it casts astonishment into the minds of those who take heed. How strong Allaah's love for Ibrahim must be that He repeats this line over and over, and it is drilled into our heads that such a claim is not befitting for someone who gained the Love of Allaah.
And it doesn't end there. Not only is this a lesson for us to understand the level of admiration that Ibrahim ('alayhi salam) achieved, but also it shows us how Allaah subhana wa ta'aala treats the slaves that attain His love. How can it be that anyone who is loved by Allaah could be destined to a place anywhere far from Him? Jannah is the only befitting destination for those who love Allaah, and Allaah loves back.
This reminder is directed to myself first and foremost, and I pray that Allaah subhana wa ta'aala makes it easy for us to come closer to Him, and preform deeds that are pleasing to Him.
Yearning for Allah and His meeting is like the gentle breeze blowing upon the heart, extinguishing the blaze of the dunya. Whosoever causes his heart to settle with his Lord shall be in a state, calm and tranquil, and whosoever sends it amongst the people shall be excessively perturbed. — Ibn al-Qayyim

Allahuma Ameen. JazakAllah khair ya ukhti. It's been a while since you've posted. InshaAllah keep it up.
It was said, “Love (mahabbah) is a fire that burns in the heart. It burns everything other than what the beloved wants from the lover.” It was also said, “Nay, it is exerting all efforts in pleasing the beloved. And that could never be so until one no longer sees the ‘love’ anymore, but only witnesses the beloved.” It is mentioned in some of the Hadith Qudsi, “My servant, I am, by your right, a lover of you. So, be you, by my right upon you, a lover of Me.”
Excerpt from the book “The Garden of the Lovers and the Excursion of Those Who Yearn” by Imam Ibn Qayyim Al-Jawziyyah,
May we be amongst those who are loved by Allah. Allahuma Ameen.
Ameen, wa iyaaki ukhti .
Sighh-- I was just looking for motivation. And what better motivation than the success of Ibrahim 'alayhi salam.
Ibn al-Qayyim's (aka the heart doctor)book Diseases of the Hearts and their cures is a good reccomendation for anyone aiming for this kind of success!
